Police say the pedestrian was running on the main lanes of the highway. A driver of a black Mitsubishi was unable to move out of the way and hit the pedestrian. The vehicle swerved, hit a guardrail and came to a halt on an access road. Police say the driver did not show any signs of intoxication and is not expected to face any charges.

SAN ANTONIO – A man attempting to cross Loop 410 was hit and killed by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning, San Antonio police said. According to police, the man was crossing the southbound main lanes of Loop 410 from east to west on foot when a Ford F-250 traveling southbound hit him. Police said they have not been able to identify her so far, and that the medical examiner may have to rely on fingerprints to do so. The driver later discovered he had hit the woman and remained at the scene until officers arrived, police said. The sergeant said it initially appeared that the woman already was lying on the roadway after being hit earlier by another vehicle. They said they planned to check into whether VIA might be able to provide more information about the crash or the woman.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – An ex-law enforcement officer is facing an intoxication assault charge following a head-on collision that sent a 43-year-old woman to a hospital in critical condition late Saturday night. Authorities said the woman was flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. Police said Motz was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody by the Comal County Sheriff's Office on a charge of intoxication assault, a third-degree felony. Records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement show Motz was employed by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office for a total of 7 1/2 years. Between 2001 and 2011, he served as a reserve officer, jailer and peace officer for the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, TCOLE records show.

Riera said there have been several similar crashes in his neighborhood, and he reached out to the city and Bexar County months back for help. A spokesperson for Bexar County said the county has been made aware of issues along Foster Road and is currently looking at what the problem to develop a solution. CHARLOTTE, Texas – A head-on crash involving two pickup trucks has left one man dead and a driver injured Friday morning in Atascosa County, a Texas Department of Public Safety official said. Deon Cockrell, the crash happened on Highway 97 near milepost 506 in Charlotte. A Ford F-350 was traveling east on the highway when it veered into the opposite lane and struck a Ford F-250, Cockrell said. The driver of the Ford F-350, a 28-year-old man from Jourdanton, was pronounced dead at the scene, Cockrell said. The driver of the Ford F-250 was transported to Methodist Hospital South in Jourdanton with incapacitating injuries and then to San Antonio Medical Military Center, Cockrell said.

SAN ANTONIO – An elderly man was stuck and killed on the city’s West Side. When police arrived, they found an 84-year-old man had been hit and killed by a truck at the intersection of N. Colorado and Ruiz streets. Police said the victim lived nearby and the area is poorly lit. The department's Traffic Investigation Division was dispatched to help determine what led up to the collision. The driver of the truck did stop and try to help the man until EMTs arrived, but they were unable to save him.

SAN ANTONIO – The city got an update on Vision Zero Wednesday, a program designed to achieve "zero" pedestrian fatalities on the roadways. During a presentation, Transportation and Capital Improvement Assistant Director Art Reinhardt said the numbers of pedestrian fatalities over the last few years have increased in San Antonio, but that it is also part of a national trend. Part of Vision Zero's action plan to achieve "zero" deaths on the road includes the "Don't Block the Box Campaign," which kicked off a few weeks ago. Kim Davila, whose son was hit at a crosswalk on Valley Hi Drive in September said she's glad the city is raising awareness about the issue. Davila said the increase in pedestrian fatalities, although scary, is not surprising because she said people are just driving too fast.

SAN ANTONIO – A 46-year-old man trying to cross a busy highway was hit and killed on Monday night. San Antonio police said the man, identified as Michael Ray Cook, must have just started to cross the highway when he was hit on the lanes exiting Loop 410 to Bandera Road.
