NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A major accident involving a bus and several vehicles was reported on northbound Interstate 35 at Highway 46 in New Braunfels, the New Braunfels Police Department said Tuesday. The police department said the crash was near FM306 and involves several vehicles including a bus carrying more than 40 adult passengers. No injuries were reported on the bus, police said, but two people from other vehicles were transported to area hospitals. Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle while running on highway on East Side, police saySAN ANTONIO – A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on the city’s East Side, San Antonio police said. Police say the pedestrian was running on the main lanes of the highway. A driver of a black Mitsubishi was unable to move out of the way and hit the pedestrian. The vehicle swerved, hit a guardrail and came to a halt on an access road. Police say the driver did not show any signs of intoxication and is not expected to face any charges.

Man attempting to cross Loop 410 hit, killed by pickup truck, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man attempting to cross Loop 410 was hit and killed by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning, San Antonio police said. The crash occurred around 4 a.m. in the 7300 block of Loop 410, not far from the Culebra Road exit. According to police, the man was crossing the southbound main lanes of Loop 410 from east to west on foot when a Ford F-250 traveling southbound hit him. Man who died after crashing into oncoming traffic near Converse identified

CONVERSE, Texas – A driver who Converse police said fatally crashed into oncoming traffic while trying to pass up slower cars has been identified. Bret Alexander Wiseman, 26, died at the scene of the crash at 5 p.m. Tuesday on FM 1516 near Binz-Engleman Road, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials ID person killed in head-on crash with Mercedes-Benz; suspect arrestedWitnesses told Converse police that Wiseman was driving in the northbound lanes before crossing into the southbound lanes and hitting another car with three people inside. Wiseman was believed to be at fault, police said. The three people in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital.

Medical examiner may use fingerprints to identify woman in fatal North Side crash

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said they will leave it up to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office to identify a woman who was hit and killed while crossing a North Side street Monday morning. Police said they have not been able to identify her so far, and that the medical examiner may have to rely on fingerprints to do so. The driver later discovered he had hit the woman and remained at the scene until officers arrived, police said. The sergeant said it initially appeared that the woman already was lying on the roadway after being hit earlier by another vehicle. They said they planned to check into whether VIA might be able to provide more information about the crash or the woman.

Ex-law enforcement officer arrested in suspected drunken driving, head-on crash

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – An ex-law enforcement officer is facing an intoxication assault charge following a head-on collision that sent a 43-year-old woman to a hospital in critical condition late Saturday night. Authorities said the woman was flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. Police said Motz was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody by the Comal County Sheriff's Office on a charge of intoxication assault, a third-degree felony. Records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement show Motz was employed by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office for a total of 7 1/2 years. Between 2001 and 2011, he served as a reserve officer, jailer and peace officer for the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, TCOLE records show.

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County homeowner said he’s been waiting a year for authorities to do something about dangerous vehicle crashes in his neighborhood. Riera said there have been several similar crashes in his neighborhood, and he reached out to the city and Bexar County months back for help. A spokesperson for Bexar County said the county has been made aware of issues along Foster Road and is currently looking at what the problem to develop a solution. The spokesperson for the county said the final solution will have to involve the city, as well. The area is right along the county and city line.

Head-on crash kills 1, injures 1 in Atascosa County

CHARLOTTE, Texas – A head-on crash involving two pickup trucks has left one man dead and a driver injured Friday morning in Atascosa County, a Texas Department of Public Safety official said. Deon Cockrell, the crash happened on Highway 97 near milepost 506 in Charlotte. A Ford F-350 was traveling east on the highway when it veered into the opposite lane and struck a Ford F-250, Cockrell said. The driver of the Ford F-350, a 28-year-old man from Jourdanton, was pronounced dead at the scene, Cockrell said. The driver of the Ford F-250 was transported to Methodist Hospital South in Jourdanton with incapacitating injuries and then to San Antonio Medical Military Center, Cockrell said.

Velasquez said intoxicated drivers and distracted drivers aren’t the only ones that worry cyclists. “The drivers sometimes that are aggressive or don’t know the full laws of sharing the road,” Velasquez said. Allen Williams was killed in what Velasquez called “an unfortunate accident” in 2017, but at least that driver stopped immediately. Melissa Nicole Peoples, the driver who allegedly struck Kayruz, is now charged with failure to stop and render aid and intoxication manslaughter.

SAN ANTONIO – An elderly man was stuck and killed on the city’s West Side. When police arrived, they found an 84-year-old man had been hit and killed by a truck at the intersection of N. Colorado and Ruiz streets. Police said the victim lived nearby and the area is poorly lit. The department's Traffic Investigation Division was dispatched to help determine what led up to the collision. The driver of the truck did stop and try to help the man until EMTs arrived, but they were unable to save him.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A man hit and killed while trying to cross the road Saturday in New Braunfels has been identified as a 19-year-old from Schertz, police said Sunday. Teniente Jr. was hit by a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by an 18-year-old San Antonio man, officers said. Teniente Jr. died at the scene of the crash. Witnesses told police that the victim was trying to cross the southbound lanes of IH 35 when he was hit by the truck. The New Braunfels Police Department would like to thank those who called in tips about the victim’s identity.

'Vision Zero' updates city leaders on its progress

SAN ANTONIO – The city got an update on Vision Zero Wednesday, a program designed to achieve "zero" pedestrian fatalities on the roadways. During a presentation, Transportation and Capital Improvement Assistant Director Art Reinhardt said the numbers of pedestrian fatalities over the last few years have increased in San Antonio, but that it is also part of a national trend. Part of Vision Zero's action plan to achieve "zero" deaths on the road includes the "Don't Block the Box Campaign," which kicked off a few weeks ago. Kim Davila, whose son was hit at a crosswalk on Valley Hi Drive in September said she's glad the city is raising awareness about the issue. Davila said the increase in pedestrian fatalities, although scary, is not surprising because she said people are just driving too fast.

One teen, a 15-year-old girl, was airlifted to University Hospital in critical condition. Both teens are Judson High School students. I have two daughters that attend Judson High School. SAN ANTONIO – A 46-year-old man trying to cross a busy highway was hit and killed on Monday night. San Antonio police said the man, identified as Michael Ray Cook, must have just started to cross the highway when he was hit on the lanes exiting Loop 410 to Bandera Road. Police said he was hit by a man driving a red Nissan truck, but that the driver will not face charges because he stopped to try and help the victim. Arthur Casas of the San Antonio Police Department.
