Voicemail notification but no voicemail

Since recently, after every telephone call I have on my phone I receive a notification "Voicemail - New voicemail" but when I call the mailbox there is nothing.

I have reset network settings, been in frequent calls with my service provider to eliminate any errors on their side (they do not send out any notifications other than SMS), toggled Notifications off and on again with restart. Nothing seems to work.

Whilst I can do without notifications, I prefer to have them as they also show missed calls. Settings are the same as for my other phone and with the latest iOS so fairly sure that is not where the problem lies either.

Any ideas for a solution?

Hey there mikael164,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. Just to confirm, when you say that you're on the latest iOS version are you running iOS 16.2? If so, have you also checked to see if you have any available carrier setting updates? If not take a look at the steps below that can help with checking for any available updates: Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

When a carrier settings update is available, you'll be prompted to install it. Installation takes less than one minute, and you can keep using your device normally. If your carrier releases a mandatory update, you'll see an OK button instead of an Update button to let you know that the update was downloaded and installed.

If you dismiss the installation notification, you can manually update carrier settings by following these steps:

1. Make sure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
2. Tap Settings > General > About.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions to install your carrier update.

If possible, we'd also recommend testing the issue while connected to a Wi-Fi network to help rule out a possible network issue causing the issue. If the issue persists while connected to Wi-Fi as well, do you by chance use any VPN or security software on your iPhone?

Let us know what you find.
